This 2-hour module introduces the theory and neuroscience of mindfulness and its application towards developing self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Most class time will be spent practicing and discussing exercises designed to enhance the interaction of brain systems involved in developing self-awareness.
Learning Objectives After this session, participants will be able to:
- Define emotional intelligence and self-awareness, and explain the relationship between self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and stress management.
- Identify basic components of the neuroscience of emotion and attention, and implement mindfulness and attention training practices designed to improve emotional intelligence skills.
- Apply activities (mindfulness meditation, journaling, mindful listening) for developing self-awareness at work and at home.
